Mark Rothmier has over 27 years of professional engineering and project management experience in the electric utility industry. In his current role, Mark manages large-scale initiatives with transformative impacts to business operations. These are large infrastructure improvements, data-driven process improvements, and projects with impacts across multiple departments. He currently leads the City's AMI implementation and Smart Grid deployment. Prior to this role, he served as the Engineering Supervisor within the Power Delivery Department charged with managing substation and transmission improvements for the Utility. Before joining the City of Independence Power & Light Department in 1999, Mark worked several years in the consulting industry as a Civil/Structural Engineer specializing in substation and transmission line design. He holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Missouri.
