Ron is an Aquatic Safety Consultant with New Water Solutions, Inc. He began his pool industry career in 1967. Began the journey of understanding suction outlet entrapment avoidance in 1997. Dedicated to ending child suction outlet entrapment and related injuries, education is the only way to protect our children from this scourge in our world as well as, protect our companies from the liabilities of and associated with submerged suction outlet entrapment. To mitigate our exposure to entrapment hazards. Also as retailers/service technicians, avoid improper use of efficient pumps or motors with variable speed capabilities. Education is our only tool to forward "outlet entrapment" aquatic safety. Ron created the DRAINSAFE.COM website in 2000 to educate regulatory officials and health/code enforcement personnel on the facts and environmental conditions surrounding "outlet entrapment" and related hazards. The Drainsafe DS 360 was patented in 2005, and was the first anti-entrapment cover to be approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to meet the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA) 2008. The 30+ years being a pool repair/remodeling contractor in Palm Beach County, helped Ron understand how to properly protect children from drain entrapment and promote safe/sound hydraulics. Something we as pool and spa professionals must attempt to understand. Ron is a native Floridian and has dedicated his remaining working years to promoting child aquatic safety and helping pool and spa professionals on limiting their liabilities from lawsuits and mitigating exposure from this deadly hazard known as "entrapment". By building pools/spas hydraulically safer, coupled with understanding suction side hydraulics and implementing new technologies correctly, we will end suction outlet entrapment in our lifetime.
