Trey Mebane

Deependable Subsea LLC


Trey Mebane currently serves as President of Deependable Subsea LLC, with a focus on commercialization of mission critical subsea control systems. He has focused his 25+ year career in areas of “wealth creation through innovation” for companies he has served. He has done this as a entrepreneur, and most recently as an intrapreneur for National Oilwell Varco (NOV) as their corporate VP of Innovation. First through the creation of a “Star Trek” chair for drillers, resulting in an industry shift towards selling rig equipment in a packaged/bundled form, accentuating value versus traditional piece-meal approaches which had equipment competing on price. Mebane’s work also includes transitioning NOV’s instrumentation group from a business focused on sensor manufacturing, to one which includes information systems, process optimization and automation offerings. Trey has led Engineering (product line & manufacturing), R&D, Marketing, Business Development and Strategy functions; at both business unit and corporate levels. Mebane’s work includes a focused-on innovation strategies which further a culture of innovation through an executive development program on technology commercialization conceived and created with The University of Texas at Austin. His work also includes research & technology development, intellectual property management strategies, corporate venturing, business and technology scouting, HSE innovations, as well as commercialization management systems.
