In a primary function, Kimberly executes and leads the software release process, identifies opportunities for the application of NASA software and technology to private industry, and informs Center and Agency organizations of the available technology products of the Ames Technology Transfer Office. Kimberly promotes the transfer and commercialization of software to external organizations. She leads and manages the software release process and provides assistance to Center software developers to put codes through the approval steps within the Software Release System (SRS). In facilitating the process, Kimberly assists with new technology reporting, provides guidance to developers for completing required documents, routes the software packages to the appropriate reviewers for approval. In addition, Kimberly coordinates technology transfer and commercialization efforts, with a network of private and public organizations, and cultivates relationships with partners and stakeholders. In support of meeting Technology Transfer requirements, Kimberly contributes to evaluating and analyzing performance data, and assessing organizational processes. She provides input to creating new workflows and program direction for technology commercialization and transfer projects. Kimberly contributes to maximizing the value of the taxpayer’s investments by enabling the transfer of cutting-edge technologies and research to the community to benefit the quality of life on Earth. Ames has a significant volume of software releases with complex IP and legal restrictions, as its regular receipt of Software of the Year awards demonstrates. Prior to her role as an SRA, Kimberly has 20 years of experience as an accomplished global communicator with a proven track record designing and executing high-impact integrated communications programs for technology and science. Kimberly’s extensive experience in public relations and public outreach has enabled her to enhance the brand image for NASA’s legacy in aerospace and technology, with tech start-up companies and engineering industries who are interested in using NASA software and technology.
