Terry leads Edelman’s energy and corporate affairs portfolio in Houston, with expertise in upstream, midstream, downstream, trading, power, carbon and renewables. Based in the Energy Capital of the World, Terry’s work involves helping companies and their leaders more effectively communicate with stakeholders while promoting and protecting their reputations. Prior to joining Edelman, Terry spent 12 years as a journalist with Reuters, the world’s largest news gathering organization. He reported from all over Latin America as a correspondent in Brazil and bureau chief in Peru. He served as Houston Bureau Chief for Reuters from 2013 to 2016, leading a team of energy reporters. He has significant experience in energy, finance, mining, macroeconomics, crisis situations, politics and Latin America. He spent six years in Peru, where he spent much of his time covering global copper and gold mining companies grappling with illegal wildcat miners, environmental concerns and hostile rural communities. Terry has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s degree from MIT. He speaks Spanish and Portuguese. In the community, he is active with the Houston Needs A Swimming Hole Campaign, an effort to create an aquatics park fed by filtered freshwater near Buffalo Bayou.
