One of Ad Astra’s founding shareholders, Dr. Squire has performed more than 18 years of research and development with the VASIMR® technology and with electric propulsion. Dr. Squire has led the research arm of Ad Astra since its inception. He has been deeply involved in all aspects of VASIMR® development since 1995. Dr. Squire joined the first working team at the Advanced Space Propulsion Laboratory in the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Squire is a consummate experimental physicist with one VASIMR® engine patent and more than twenty years of experience in large research programs. Dr. Squire has played a critical role in the successful evolution of the rocket development, from a physics test-bed validating the principles of operation, to the highly integrated, 200kW VX-200 prototype. Dr. Squire is originally from the state of California. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Physics from MIT with an emphasis on fusion energy research. He also carried out post-doctoral research at the DIII-D tokamak of General Atomics in San Diego.
