Michael is currently the ULA Program Manager for Advanced Programs for development of new technologies to increase the capabilities of ULA’s launch vehicle fleet beyond the current Atlas and Delta programs. Previously he was the program manager for Commercial Crew, developing the human space flight capability on ULA’s Atlas V launch vehicle. In his current role, he is responsible for overall cost technical and schedule for the IVF and Vulcan AR1 development programs. Michael reports to Dr. George Sowers, Vice President of Advanced Programs and Chief Scientist Michael has over 30 years of experience in aerospace, and began his career in Human Space Flight in 1983 on the STS Shuttle / Centaur program in Flight Operations to integrate the Centaur upper stage into the STS program. His experience includes Program Management, Systems Engineering, Mission Integration, and Operations for recurring and development programs. From 1986 to 2006, Michael managed integration and launch of 17 successful DoD, NASA and Commercial satellite programs including first flights of Titan Centaur, Atlas III and Atlas V. During this period he also managed several development projects including Atlas V OSP launch system initial development, Friction Stir Welded tank domes, and engine upgrades for the RD-180 and RL10. In 2007 when ULA was formed and developing its own internal engineering and business infrastructure, Michael took responsibility for managing the transition of parent company provided technical/business tools, systems and infrastructure service contracts to internally ULA capability, reporting to the VP of Transition. In 2010, Michael returned to work for George Sowers VP of BD and Advanced programs, to manage the development of a prototype Emergency Detection System and human spaceflight capability on Atlas V during the Commercial Crew Development with NASA and ULA’s spacecraft prime contractors. He is currently managing the development of the Integrated Vehicle Fluids technology for the Advanced Cryogenic Evolved Stage (ACES) upper stage and the Vulcan AR1 launch vehicle development..
