Lynn McKinstry has been the Manager of Electric System Operations at the Lansing Board of Water and Light (LBWL) in Lansing, MI since 2008. She has been in the electric utility industry for over 32 years, beginning as a boiler operator in a coal-fired power plant and steadily moving through other positions of increasing responsibility in the power plant and steam plant, through Control Room Operator and eventually into her current role with the utility. Lynn became a control center operator in 1992 for Generation and Power Marketing, and progressed to substation inspections and Transmission and Distribution Operator in 1997. She then moved into leadership roles, first as the Lead Transmission and Distribution Operator in 1999 and then to Supervisor of Electric System Operations. Lynn maintains her NERC Reliability Coordinator Certification. As part of her current responsibilities, she also oversees LBWL’s Vegetation Management program as well as its Stake and Locate area.
