Big Spring Spirits
Philip began brewing in 1986 while in graduate school because he was poor and the only things available were pricey imports. In those pre-internet days, resources were hard to come by, which meant lots of experiments, some more successful than others. As a scientist, he has always been interested in the biology and biochemistry of brewing and has used this to improve the efficiency of his process. He is always on the lookout for new technology and novel ingredients to bring to brewing. He is currently the distiller for Big Spring Spirits in Bellefonte, Pa.
