At Headquarters with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Inspector General – Office of Investigations, Dr. Cohen is responsible for Medicare Part D law enforcement program oversight in Washington, DC. He has been at OIG headquarters for the past six years. Prior to OIG, he worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami, Florida assigned to the Healthcare Fraud division. Current work includes proactive analysis of newly approved pharmaceuticals subject to diversion and fraud. In addition to law enforcement work, he has 30years’ experience in clinical health care. This included working in emergency departments and trauma units in Washington, DC and Florida. Dr. Cohen received undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of Richmond. He received physician assistant training from George Washington University’s School of Medicine, and holds a law degree with a specialty in Health Law as well as a Doctor of Health Sciences degree.
