George Forman, a 1970 graduate of U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall School of Law, is the principal in Forman & Associates, Attorneys at Law (www.gformanlaw.com), where he currently employs two associate attorneys. George is admitted to the bars of and has practiced before the California Supreme Court, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, Ninth and Sixth Circuits, all of the U.S. District Courts in California, and has been admitted pro hac vice in U.S. District Courts in Washington and Michigan. George has been solely or principally responsible for numerous Indian law decisions, including many that provide the jurisdictional underpinnings for tribal sovereignty, sovereign immunity and Reservation-based natural resource rights. Along with Glenn Feldman and Barbara Karshmer, George participated in successfully litigating California v. Cabazon and Morongo Bands before the U.S. Supreme Court, as well as litigating the parameters of state jurisdiction under P.L. 83-280 in non-gaming contexts, successfully litigated the untermination of a number of California Rancherias, and has been a sole or principal negotiator of numerous Class III Compacts.
