A recovering structural engineer, Barry abandoned the corporate rat race and co-founded Seattle-based Lucky Envelope Brewing in 2014. Barry oversees a kick ass team brewing a range of award-winning, culturally inspired beers, including a 2015 GABF Bronze Medal for their Helles Lager. Barry’s transition from beer lover to brewer occurred during graduate school after he caught himself criticizing a beer and realizing he didn’t know any processes behind the beverage. Taking this moment of reflection as a challenge, Barry bought his first homebrew kit and dove into every brewing resource he could find. Barry is a certified BJCP judge and continues to be active in professional and home brewing competitions.
