As the General Manager of Grand Casino Hinckley, Mike is as a dynamic leader focused on operational growth through the continued development of his group of more than 1,200 Associates. “The idea is to give our Associates the best experience and the resources to feel empowered to make decisions that not only allow them to grow professionally, but decisions that also benefit Grand Casino.” Mike oversees the day-to-day operations of Grand Casino Hinckley, including more than 2,200 slot machines, 30 table games, 1,000+ hotel rooms, and 16 food and beverage outlets. His trajectory to this current role is far from the norm. He first became interested in the hospitality industry as a young adult honing his talents in the food and beverage industry. After earning a degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stout, he worked with established hospitality leaders including Byerly's Lunds and Dayton's / Target. Mike joined Grand Casino in 1990 as an Executive Chef and ascended through various roles until being promoted to the Corporate VP of Food, Beverage, and Innovation (or “head bus boy,” as he likes to call it). He also served as the interim General Manager for Hinckley’s sister property – Grand Casino Mille Lacs – from 2014-2015. His experience brings a unique perspective to his leadership role as the General Manager ensuring that Associates and Guests are kept at the forefront. In his free time, Mike enjoys Polar-Plunging for Special Olympics MN, trop-rockin’ as a Parrot Head, taste-testing the next IPA, running, and spending time with his family.
