Stefan Al




Stefan Al is a renowned architect and urban designer, as well as an expert and educator on urbanization and sustainable design (http://www.stefanal.com). He co-designed the 2,000-feet Canton Tower in Guangzhou, which briefly held the title of the tallest tower in the world. Previously the director of the urban design program at the University of Hong, Dr. Al currently works as associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He also served as an advisor to the Hong Kong government, the Chinese government, and the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. He authored, co-authored, and edited several books on architecture and urban design, including Factory Towns of South China (2012), Mall City: Hong Kong's Dreamworlds of Consumption (2014), and Beyond Mobility: Planning Cities for People and Places (2017), and The Strip: Las Vegas Architecture of the American Dream (2017), which was featured by the Wall Street Journal as "best books to read."
