Gordon is an architect, editor, writer, illustrator, and creative director. During his 40 years of freelance, he has worked with a variety of clients and audiences around the world. Currently, as Creative Director at Forrec, his responsibilities include creative and art direction, creative writing, thematic development, and professional outreach. For the past 25 years, he has been a writer and editor, having published more than two-dozen books dealing with design and architectural illustration. After serving as editor for the Ontario Association of Architects’ quarterly journal, OAA Perspectives, he has just recently initiated a brand new journal of the built environment called The Right Angle (www.therightanglejournal.com). He is a Past President and Senior Advisor to the American Society of Architectural Illustrators and serves as jury consultant and editor for the society’s annual international illustration competition and publication Architecture in Perspective. He is a member of the Toronto Society of Architects, the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the Massey College Quadrangle Society, and the RAIC College of Fellows. In 2014, he was honored with the OAA’s medal of the Order of Da Vinci, for distinguished service to the profession. His recent professional presentations include illustration roundtables at the ASAI/UIA Conference in Tokyo, 2011 and the ASAI Conference in San Francisco, 2013, “Drawing in the Digital Age” at the 2013 OAA Toronto Conference, the 2013 IIDEX Conference, the 2014 RAIC Winnipeg Conference, and the 2014 ASAI Dallas Conference. In 2014, Gordon presented a paper at the Time and Temporality Conference in Germany and participated in a roundtable at the American Studies Association annual conference in Los Angeles. At the same time, he and his colleagues, Filippo Carlá, Florian Freitag, and Scott Lukas, initiated an ongoing “ambulatory creative research” project.
