Bill Cherry is the founder and brewmaster of Switchback Brewing Company in Burlington, Vermont. He has a background in microbiology and a M.S. from U.C. Davis. He worked as Head Brewer for Boulevard Brewing Company in the 1990s before moving to Vermont. Bill opened Switchback Brewing Company in 2002 as the only employee, responsible for all beer production, maintenance, and sales. After fifteen years and growing to 30 employees, Switchback became 100% employee owned in February 2017 as part of his succession plan. Bill continues to work harder than ever as President/Brewmaster for Switchback, lamenting that work has become way too much “business” and not enough brewing.
