Dr. Dmitry Starodubov

Dr. Starodubov, Chief Scientist of FOMS Inc., is the first person to fabricate the optical fiber in microgravity. He earned his Ph.D. in laser physics from the General Physics Institute, RAS. Dr. Starodubov is a Fellow of SPIE for his role in the material science development of the optical fibers. He has management and hands on experience through a wide range of government and commercial programs including portable optical pathogen detection system for Department of Homeland Security (2012 Prism Award), Air Force critical small business program for F35 manufacturing technology including industrial LED imaging interferometry and optical gyroscope detection of tool wear, Air Force suborbital rocket payload development and qualification program under Phase II SBIR for space manufacturing, high power non-lethal laser weapon system development for US Marine Corps and many others. Dr. Starodubov has co-authored 110 scientific publications and 23 U.S. patents. He is a citizen of the United States.
