Dana Tschannen, PhD, is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Her program of research aims to advance the science of quality and patient safety through knowledge acquisition and evidence based practice adoption. Most recent work has centered on pressure injury prevention, team training, and system design to encourage nurse engagement in EBP and quality improvement. This has included utilization of electronic health record data for improved identification of patients at risk for pressure injuries. Dr. Tschannen’s clinical practice aligned with this work has included implementation of various evidence-based practice strategies to prevent PIs, such as automated data reports, implementation of dermatherapy linen and evaluation of nursing practice related to PI prevention.
