Tim Keane is a Consulting Engineer with Legionella Risk Management and is a nationally recognized expert on methods to control and minimize the risk of Legionella in building water systems. He has ?39 years of field engineering experience including new construction project engineering, facility engineering, and water treatment consulting, and for the last 15 years he has focused on waterborne pathogen mitigation and control in building water systems. Tim has been an original member of the ASHRAE 188 Committee since 2005. His Legionella experience includes leading engineering investigations into building-specific outbreaks, product-specific outbreaks, a community-wide outbreak, and product field trails for Legionella control of plumbing components and biocides; providing engineering assessments and, when needed, cost-effective design modifications to building water systems to resolve Legionella risks; presenting training seminars across the country on plumbing system design and operation to minimize the potential for waterborne pathogen growth; design review and commissioning for healthcare facilities; authoring and co-authoring papers, a book, and monograph guidelines on waterborne pathogens; and being an expert witness in Legionnaires’ disease litigations including spas, cooling towers, potable water, and fountains.
