Jennifer is the Commercial Innovation Technology Lead at the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) identifying, developing, and fostering space-based commercial R&D and breakthrough innovations for the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory. Research areas under her leadership include in-space manufacturing, IT & communications (virtual reality, laser communications, artificial intelligence, IoT, data applications), robotics, and electronics. As the Technology Lead, Jennifer is responsible for the optimization of new technology advancements and operational improvements in these areas maximizing utilization of the ISS for terrestrial benefit and toward commercialization of low Earth orbit and success of future orbiting platforms. As the Founding Member of NASA’s Datanaut Corps in the Technology and Open Innovation Division of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Jennifer is shaping the direction of the program inspiring future engineers, data scientists, and entrepreneurs who share a passion for learning and exploration to engage with NASA’s open data from NASA missions to research, answering challenges in technology, aeronautics, the space station, our planet and the solar system. Jennifer is a 2017 National Geographic Emerging Explorer, an Innovation Fellow of the Disruptive Foundation, Tribeca Film Disruptive Innovation Awards, a Key Influencer for the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tomorrow Lab - Advancing Science for the Benefit of Humankind, and recognized by Fast Company along with Brian Krzanich, Angela Merkel, Howard Schultz, and Janet Mock as one of the 5 Best Leaders of 2015.
