Rear Admiral Janice M. Hamby, also known as Jan, RADM, USN serves as Chancellor at the Information Resources Management College (IRMC/iCollege) from National Defense University in Washington, D.C. Rear Admiral Hamby serves as Member of Advisory Board at Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation. Rear Admiral Hamby has been an Independent Director of Cubic Corporation since April 20, 2015. She is a retired U.S. Navy rear admiral and an information technology expert with more than 30 years of experience in the U.S. Navy cybersecurity arena, culminating as a Deputy Chief Information Officer for the U.S. Department of Defense. She is a winner of the National Defense University Foundation Writing Award for best essay on joint matters. She served as a key technology and general strategist at the senior levels of the staffs of the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Commander, Multi-National Force, Iraq. In her senior role with the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2009 to 2011. Rear Admiral Hamby was a primary representative for Department of Defense planning and programming activities related to cyber security and information technology. Her awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; the Legion of Merit with two Gold Stars; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the Navy Meritorious Service Medal with three Gold Stars; and Various unit commendations and awards. Rear Admiral Hamby earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; a Master of Science in Information Systems from Boston University; a Master of Business Administration, Operations Management from Boston University and Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. She holds graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College.
