Alain Cohen
Chef/Owner
Harissa Restaurant (Got Kosher?)

Born in Tunisia, Chef Alain Cohen’s family traces their roots back to 586 BC. Alain’s family immigrated to Paris, where his father opened a Kosher Tunisian restaurant in 1973, Les Ailes, (The Wings). Alain began working when he was nine years old, later adapting a French Tunisian fusion cuisine that turned Les Ailes into a andmark. In love with the movies, Alain arrived in Hollywood to begin a new career, but as cooking for friends overtook his time, he knew he had to rejoin the culinary world full time. In time, Alain opened Got Kosher?, a successful wholesale gourmet sandwiches and salad operation, later creating the now famous pretzel challahs and rolls that put Got Kosher? on the culinary map, along with his international themed Shabbat dinner. Alain’s newly named Harissa Restaurant (formerly Got Kosher?) offers healthy, specialty French-Tunisian dishes, (including Parisian grillades and Tunisian tagines) seafood and meat charcuterie and a street sampler plate – that happen to be kosher- along with the finest kosher wines. Creating kosher versions of international dishes; sourcing products and updating ancient classics is a story in itself.
