Debra L Fawcett PhD, RN is the Director of Clinical Affairs at EHOB Inc, located in Indianapolis, IN. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University Kokomo, Fawcett pursued her Master of Science in Nursing from Ball State University. Following, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy in 2003 from the University of Cincinnati. With over thirty years of experience as a perioperative nurse, she has focused herefforts on dissertation and subsequent studies involving pressure injuries and support surfaces that reside in operating rooms. She has published a variety of articles specializing in safety and quality, the positioning of patients to prevent pressure ulcers, and wrote a chapter for the book Alexander’s Care of the Patient in Surgery. Additionally, Fawcett shared her professional insights on pressure ulcers in Kenya and England, giving her first-hand operating room experience. In the past, she served as a panel member for the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) and a member of the AORN Board of Directors. Currently, she is a dedicated member of the Association of Infection Control (APIC) and is the Chair of the Pressure Ulcer Task Force for The Associate of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). Her ongoing hard work with AORN encompassed the importance of membership and mentoring, results in her receiving the AORN award of Outstanding Achievement in Mentoring.
