This paper analyse actual monitored performance of a 58kWp grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system located at the parking lot in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The system consists of 3 desert-type mono crystalline silicon PV modules. The performance ratio (PR) and system data analysis were calculated using power and climatic data (solar radiation, module temperature). The power loss induced by soiling for 2 months is 14.3% on average. To mitigate the loss induced by soiling and to reduce the reflection at the surface, we had applied to multi-functional coating technology – anti-soiling and anti-reflecting. Nano-porous silica (SiO2) layer was formed on the PV glass. As a result, power of PV module was increased and soiling phenomenon was significantly reduced.
