CDR Jason Smith is the Detachment Chief for the Coast Guard’s Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise located in Port Arthur, TX. Here he supervises a team of liquefied gas subject matter experts who provide technical advice to both the industry and the Coast Guard, and increase and maintain the Coast Guard's collective competency and capacity to professionally engage with the liquefied gas industry. Areas of specialty include vessels and facilities that transport or utilize liquefied gases. Previously CDR Smith has held assignments at Sector Boston, Coast Guard Headquarters, Marine Inspection Office Europe, Detached Duty Office North Bend, and Marine Safety Office Puget Sound. CDR Smith is a 1996 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and a 2007 graduate of the University of Maryland.
