Robert Ping is executive director of Trips for Kids’ new national umbrella organization, launched in August 2017. Robert is a national youth bicycling expert and social equity advocate and a frequent speaker at national and state conferences and forums. Robert has provided onsite technical-assistance and facilitation for pedestrian-and-bicycling initiatives in over 50 communities including Atlanta, Pittsburg and Portland, Ore., with a focus on bicycling, youth, lower-income and communities of color. One of the founding leaders of the national Safe Routes to School movement, Robert was appointed by Congress to the federal Safe Routes to School Task Force in 2007, the founding manager of Portland, Oregon’s comprehensive Safe Routes to School program, a consultant to ODOT, and has advised program leaders reaching hundreds of communities nationwide. Robert is the author and editor of dozens of technical publications, including an award-winning fact sheet series for AARP, and has supervised 27 state policy coalitions and five regional government coalitions working on bicycling, transportation equity, Complete Streets, Safe Routes to School, school siting, federal funding and other policies.
