Dr. Aleksi Paaso is a Director of Distribution Planning, Smart Grid & Innovation with Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) in Chicago. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Kentucky. At his current role, Dr. Paaso is responsible for developing technology strategy and evaluation methodologies for new and emerging technology, including microgrids and energy storage. He is the vice-chair of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Task Force on Microgrid Design, and part of the editorial team for the Smart Distribution Application Guide (P1854). He is also a member of CIGRÉ, and registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Illinois.
