Brien Lorenze joined the PRAC in September 2020 as Chief Data Officer, overseeing the PRAC’s data strategy and leading its Pandemic Analytics Center of Excellence (PACE). In this role, he works closely with stakeholders in the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and law enforcement community to oversee the more than $5 trillion in federal pandemic relief spending. He has put in place agreements to share and/or receive non-public data with dozens of oversight partners and built a cloud-based analytics platform that provides data-based insights to identify improper payments and fraudulent activity. Brien has a long-held passion for the mission of government oversight and using data to solve complex challenges. Prior to joining the PRAC, he led Deloitte’s Global Public Sector Audit and Enterprise Risk Services and served as the Solution Executive for Program Integrity. He has over 20 years of experience applying analytic and forensic technology to conduct and supervise evaluations, audits, and investigations. His work deploying systems to detect and prevent financial crime has been recognized for technical creativity and a willingness to test emerging technologies. Brien holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Master Degree in Public Administration for The George Washington University.
