Chief Inspector General

Melinda Miguel has over 28 years of public service and served as the Inspector General for the following state government agencies in the State of Florida: the Florida State Board of Administration, the Florida Attorney General’s Office, the Florida Department of Education, and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. Ms. Miguel was appointed by Governor DeSantis on January 8, 2019 as Chief Inspector General. She also served as Chief Inspector General appointed by Florida Governors Rick Scott and Charlie Crist. She served as the Inspector General for the U.S. Government Publishing Office in Washington, D.C. and Deputy IG for the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Ms. Miguel is the Senior Vice-president At-Large for the National Executive Committee and the past Regional Vice President for the Gulf Coast Region of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). She is the Director-at-Large and Education Committee Co-Chair for the Tallahassee Chapter of the AGA and served on the AGA’s National Partnership Steering Committee. She is also an Advisor to the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. Ms. Miguel is the immediate past National President of the Association of Inspectors General (AIG), a current member of the national Executive Committee, chair of the Legislative Issues Committee, and member of the Professional Standards Committee. Ms. Miguel received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Florida Local Government Administration from Florida State University.
