Peter E. Kim, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is Deputy Director, Cyberspace Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for the oversight and development of Air Force cyberspace strategies and implementation plans for Offensive Cyberspace Operations, Defensive Cyberspace Operations and DOD Information Network Operations. He ensures integrated and synchronized strategic employment of cyberspace strategies to retain freedom of maneuver in cyberspace, accomplish Air Force and joint force commanders’ objectives, deny freedom of action to adversaries, and enable Air Force mission assurance of operational activities relying on the cyberspace domain. Mr. Kim received his commission in 1988 through the Air Force ROTC program at Tennessee State University and retired from active duty on June 1, 2013 in the grade of colonel. He commanded three Air Force communications and information operations squadrons and a Defense Information Systems Agency contracting field office in the Pacific. He held key positions at the squadron, major command, combatant command and joint levels. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Kim led the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff-established Joint Information Environment Operations Sponsor Group on behalf of Commander, U.S. Cyber Command. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2013.
