Twana McFann, is member of I.B.E.W. Local #683 as a Journeyman Wireman & AFSCME #1632 in Columbus, Ohio where she is currently a Safety Program Technician for the Dept. of Public Utilities. AFSCME membership is approximately 3,000 covering 10 locations and I.B.E.W. has approximately 1200 members working at various construction activities throughout jurisdiction. Both groups have electrical safety programs, committees, and training. Prior to employment with the City of Columbus, Twana was employed as a Journeyman Wireman working construction until a disabling injury removed her from that line of work. Twana started in 2002 with the Electricity Division of the Dept., and through a department reorganization in 2005, she now works throughout the dept. with all areas, water, wastewater and electric. She is an instructor of multiple topics, but focus remains on electrical work conducted in the dept., as well as regulatory compliance, overseeing all aspects of electrical training, written programs/procedures, observations & inspections. Twana has been active with the Labor Division since 2000, as well as a Journeyman Wireman/Safety Rep with the I.B.E.W. organization. She is currently the Labor Division Chairman and a Liaison between the I.B.E.W. Safety Caucus and the NSC Labor Division. She has been appointed to the position of Labor Division Liaison and also serves on the Welcoming Committee as Chair. Among her most notable achievements is the Orientation training materials developed for the Labor Division new attendees. Always courteous, Twana’s dedication to safety equals her diligent yet gentle leadership in educating others in safety. As a classroom facilitator, she is conscientious, responsible and accurate in he delivery of safety regulations and principles. Her broad knowledge continues to be a great asset.
