Bill Baker is an Associate/Senior Engineer with Mott MacDonald’s Rail and Transit Practice. He has served as Design Lead and Resident Engineer on all sizes of projects in Design and Construction. Inspection responsibilities include ballasted track and direct fixation track on aerial structures and in tunnels as well as source evaluations at manufacturing facilities for rail, special trackwork, tie and ballast procurements. Experience has included construction project coordination for grade crossings and grade separations with Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF, Southern California Regional Rail Authority, BART and Caltrain. Mr. Baker has developed expertise in track, special trackwork and facilities assessment for state of good repair. Current assignments involve mitigation of Track Noise & Vibration that lead to co-authoring this presentation on Floating Slab Track. Mr. Baker entered the Rail & Transit industry with an education in Mining Engineering with early career emphasis in heavy civil construction and transit tunnels.
