Amanda Acton is the Manager of Hydroelectric Generation for Wisconsin Power and Light Co, an Alliant Energy Corporation. She manages two turn of the century plants in Central Wisconsin on the Wisconsin River. The 10 MW Kilbourn Dam was completed in 1909 and is a landmark in the tourist capital of the state, the Wisconsin Dells. The 31 MW Prairie du Sac Dam was completed in 1914 and while small by today’s standards, when it was built it was one of the largest sources of electricity in the Midwest. Amanda studied engineering in Wisconsin, receiving her BS in Civil Engineering from Marquette University. She is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in Maryland.
