Jim has worked for BNSF Railway 13 years; Jim currently is a “Consulting Systems Engineer” in the Terminal Process Controls group. In 2011, Jim received one of six American Association of Railroads Chaffee Environmental Awards for his engineering and development of a leak proof skate retarder hydraulic cylinder used in BNSF classification yards. Jim has published nine (9) papers: three (3) on nuclear reactor containment integrity, and four (4) on QNX/UNIX software development, and (2) on Railroad Obsolescence Engineering. Jim is currently a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard Reserve/A as an ESO (engineering staff officer) working on advanced software controls, and numerical data encryption.
