Donovan Holder is currently a rail bridge engineer at HDR in the Chicago office. He received his bachelors in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in May 2014, and a masters in structural and rail engineering from the same university in May 2016. During his graduate studies, he worked with the RailTEC infrastructure group where his research work focused on quantifying the distribution and magnitude of lateral forces through the track superstructure. His presentation today is on quantifying the lateral force through concrete crossties fastening systems, and is based on field experimentation conducted through a partnership with RailTEC, Vossloh Fastening Systems America, and Union Pacific Railroad.
