Nick spent 32 years in the fire service in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Before retiring in 2010, Nick was assistant fire chief in Henrico County (VA) and deputy fire chief in Spotsylvania County (VA). He received a bachelor’s degree in safety and risk administration and a master’s degree in public administration, both from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a graduate of the executive fire officer program and was a designated chief fire officer. Nick served for several years on the executive board of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association (VFCA) and currently serves as the chair of the VFCA’s professional development committee. He is active in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) as an instructor and served for nearly 10 years as the plans chief for the national memorial weekend. In retirement, Nick provides consultation and facilitator services to non-profit and public safety agencies.
