Rhonda Caviedes has over 25 years of dedicated experience to the construction industry as a practicing mechanical engineer and attorney. Ms. Caviedes provides practical, business-oriented legal advice to executive management, commercial, design and project execution teams on a wide range of domestic and international energy infrastructure projects relative to contracting structures, formation of strategic business relationships with culturally diverse global business partners and clients, feasibility analysis, FEED and EPC contract drafting and negotiations, risk assessment, technology licensing, project execution, labor relations, regulatory compliance, claims management and dispute resolution. Most recently, while serving as Associate General Counsel and Managing Attorney, Ms. Caviedes was responsible for a global portfolio valued at over $30 billion consisting of power generation facilities, LNG import and export facilities and petrochemical facilities. While in private practice, Ms. Caviedes developed cross discipline expertise in construction, environmental and corporate law. She routinely pursued and defended claims on behalf of contractors, design professionals, suppliers and owners before federal and state courts, agency review boards, arbitration panels and mediators. Ms. Caviedes is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a longtime member of the ABA Forum on Construction Law where she frequently lectures, writes and coordinates programs on legal topics and other issues that impact the construction industry. She has served in a leadership capacity on numerous Forum committees, and is the Immediate Past-Chair of Division 10 Transportation, Energy & Environment. Ms. Caviedes received her B.S.M.E. degree cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her J.D. degree magna cum laude from the University of Alabama Law School, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Legal Profession.
