Shawn Stokes
Assistant Director



Shawn is the assistant director of national programs for the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC). He is responsible for overseeing all wildland fire initiatives and volunteer recruitment and retention programs managed by the IAFC. Prior to his current position, he served as the wildland fire program manager, assistant to the executive director and director of membership. Shawn also serves as the assistant fire chief of operations of the Dunn Loring (VA) Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, vice president of administration for the Fairfax County (VA) Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, and as one of seven appointees to the Fairfax County Volunteer Fire Commission. Shawn holds a master’s of aeronautical science in aviation operations and a bachelor’s degree in aviation business administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL.
