Blast Consult SL

Benjamin Cebrian is a rock fragmentation consultant at worldwide operations. He earned his Mining Engineering degree from Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 2000 and a M.S. from Colorado School of Mines in 2002. It was there that Benjamin met John Floyd who encouraged him into making blasting a better, safer and more efficient activity and guided him on the "path of the force" when he was just a padawan. In fact, at early stages of his life, he started spending money on blowing up things with pyrotechnics and now he gets paid for doing it. At the age of 19 he earned the National Innovation Award by Honeywell, presented in London in 1995. In 1997 he presented a way to extinguish fires with explosives. He worked as Technical Services Manager - Europe - at UEE Explosives, now Maxam Corp, until 2006, when he created Blast Consult S.L. He has performed training and consulting jobs for open pit mining, underground mining, underwater blasting operations, civil excavations, quarrying and tunneling on 3 continents. He also has developed several patents for misfire detection, blasted ore tracking and dilution control in blasting.
