Jeffrey D. Johnson is currently the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Grants for the Department of Health and Human Services. Mr. Johnson leads a Department-wide federal assistance portfolio that includes the development and oversight of federal assistance policies, procedures, and reporting and he is the managing partner for Grants.gov. Prior to his current position, Mr. Johnson was the Director of Federal Assistance at the Department of State where he was responsible for the Department’s federal assistance management, policy, and training for the international programs supported by embassies around the world. Mr. Johnson began his public service career working at the Department of Education where he developed a risk analysis tool and strategy for use in the Department of Education’s grant monitoring and oversight. Mr. Johnson spent 14 years of his youth living in England and is a graduate of the University of Maryland.
