Sylvia Reyna was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She is a former teacher, principal, executive director, assistant and associate superintendent, and most recently retired as Chief of School Leadership from Dallas Independent School District after a 37-year career an educator. During her long career, she also worked for the San Antonio, Edgewood and Fort Worth Independent School Districts. Dr. Reyna was elected to the Texas PTA Board of Directors in 2014 as a Director at Large, but has served in many capacities at the local and council levels. She first joined PTA as a teacher in 1977 and maintained membership throughout her career. She received her Texas PTA Life Membership when she served as an elementary school principal in the early 1990’s. Dr. Reyna is currently enjoying retirement, but stays busy participating in several professional and civic organizations, committees, and groups. Dr. Reyna has been married to Arthur Reyna, Jr. an attorney, for 35 years and they have two sons—Arthur C. Reyna, III, an attorney living in Austin and Adrian Reyna, a teacher at Longfellow Middle School in San Antonio.
