Lorraine Schnelle is the Director of Strategy at HFMA. Prior to joining HFMA National, Lorraine was the Director of Professional Billing for Spectrum Health, with responsibility for billing and collecting for the 1500+ providers across the system. In her role, she initiated multiple process improvement projects within her departments and was an active member of the Physician Revenue Cycle Value Stream Committee. She has 30 years of healthcare finance experience as a financial analyst, director of facility billing & registration, consulting manager for Ernst & Young, an independent financial consultant and creator of online revenue cycle education. Lorraine holds a BBA in Accounting from Iowa State University and is a CPA. She is currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration from Grand Valley State University. Active in HFMA on the state and national level, Lorraine is a nationally known author and presenter on revenue cycle learning and leadership. She has facilitated national revenue cycle staff and leadership development workshops for HFMA and been published in the HFM Journal. Lorraine is an active community volunteer, recipient of the HFMA Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, Muncie Gold and Medal of Honor awards and the past president of the Western Michigan Chapter of HFMA.
