Recognized globally as the “Godfather” of software-defined and cognitive radios, he has focused recently on hardware-based cyber-security. Previously was Research Vice President (Stevens), Special Assistant to the Director (DARPA and US Special Operations Command), and technical advisor to the Executive Office of the President. His career included technical leadership at ITT (Electrophysics Laboratory), E-Systems (Texas and Virginia), Harris Corp and ADS (an AI start-up company). He co-founded Hackproof Technologies with The Honorable Michael Wynne, 21st Secretary of the Air Force. Currently he directs the Information Systems Laboratory, Hume Center, Virginia Tech, Arlington VA.
