Miguel Herrera, Jr is the Produce Director at Affiliated Foods, Inc. in Amarillo, Texas. Miguel has been the Produce Director for 11 years. In his tenure as Director of Produce, AFI has experienced the highest growth in produce history. Miguel has been instrumental in obtaining on-site USDA inspectors to ensure US#1 quality produce. Miguel has also helped in the development of Veg-Pak facilities and the on-site potato silos for packaging at AFI. The Veg-Pak facility breaks down master cases into lesser units for the smaller size retail units. Currently there are over 60 different conventional items and 15 organic items. This facility is also packaging Micro-Pak items. These items are all packaged in private label with 20 items currently being packaged. The Veg Pak facility has many more items in testing phases and once completed, these items will also be launched into the membership.
