Jeannie Boettler is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Division. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, she assists chemical, biotechnology and life sciences companies including private corporations, universities and government agencies. She works to secure and protect intellectual property rights in a variety of subject matters, including those relating to DNA, RNA, and proteins, gene therapy, antibodies, biologics, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, drug conjugates, medical and research diagnostic assays, biomarkers, molecular cloning, protein expression, cell culture and development, immunohistochemistry, transgenic oils, transgenic plants, biofuels, nanotechnology, microfluidics, skin science, absorbent materials, food science, adult and pediatric nutritionals and microencapsulation. Other subject areas include solar panels, electrochemical cells, hydrogen generator cells and fuel cells. In addition to the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, Jeannie counsels clients on patentability, invalidity, freedom-to-operate and other due diligence issues and assists in preparing non-infringement and invalidation opinions. She also guides clients in post grant proceedings including Inter Partes Review and Post Grant Review and counsels clients regarding patent and FDA strategy under the Drug Price Competition and Patent Term Restoration Act (Hatch-Waxman) and the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act of 2009.
