Joan H. Buchanan is the vice president and chief diversity officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also serves as director of the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion (OMWI). Most recently, Ms. Buchanan served as assistant vice president with responsibility for the Bank's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and corporate secretary functions and was secretary to the Bank's management committee, a position she assumed in 2008. She currently serves as chair of the Federal Reserve System's Office of Minority and Women Inclusion Council and previously served as co-vice chair of the Council and chair of the Workforce Diversity Working Group for three years. A native of Kentucky, Ms. Buchanan received a Bachelor of Science degree in applied psychology from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In the community, she serves as a trustee to the board of the Center for Visually Impaired and as a board member for SafeKids Georgia and the Technology Association of Georgia – HR and Diversity.
