Deniz Bilge started his brewing profession with an apprenticeship at Beck's Brewery/Bremen. From there, he became head brewer at a Canadian craft brewery and earned his doctorate degree in brewing technology. Following this, he worked in the supply industry and as technical director in a Greek brewery, before returning to the VLB in Berlin in 2011 to work as a senior consultant and lecturer. As Deputy Department Chief of the Research Institute for Beer and Beverage Production, he is mainly responsible for technological aspects and scientific research projects.
