Mike started with United Grocers of Portland, Oregon in 1990 as a Retail Technology Specialist. His career progressed through a series of management roles at United including Manager, Retail Systems and Director, Retail Technology. In 1999, Certified and United Grocers merged into Unified Western Grocers where he was named General Manager, Retail Technology. In 2007, Mike lead the Retail Technology team of Unified Western Grocers in merging with Associated Grocers of Seattle, WA. This merger created Unified Grocers, and Mike assumed responsibility for retail technology for the combined company. In 2013, Mike assumed additional responsibilities for retail marketing and was named Vice President of Retail Services. In 2017, SUPERVALU acquired Unified Grocers and Mike was named Vice President, Retail Technology. Most recently Mike served as Vice President of SUPERVALU’s Retail Technology and Professional Services Sales & Marketing teams. He had direct responsibilities for nationwide retail technology teams, and strategic partnerships pertaining to SUPERVALU’s complete technology service offered to independent retailers. Mike’s sales and marketing responsibilities extended to all SUPERVALU Professional Services solutions across technology services, store services, eCommerce, marketing, Human Resources and finance. Mike’s experience in the grocery industry began at an early age, helping to manage a family grocery business. That experience provided him with a valuable understanding of all aspects of the business. He has participated and led various committees, including FMI-Technology and EFT Steering Committees, as well as NGA-Retail Technology Share Groups. In January 2019, Mike started his own retail consulting firm, LSA50 Consulting. His focus is helping retailers create business value through innovation and improved operations. Mike is a graduate of the 2015 Cornell University Food Executive Program.
