Chris Sadler




Chris has served with the York County (VA) Department of Fire and Life Safety for over 31 years. Prior to being appointed as Acting Deputy Chief/Deputy Director of the department, Chris spent 10 years as an Assistant Chief commanding the technical services and special operations division. He is a nationally registered paramedic, and a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program. He has served for over 20 years as a safety officer with the FEMA USAR Virginia Task Force 2. Additionally, he is a hazardous materials specialist, an FAA Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Remote Pilot, and holds numerous additional certifications in firefighting, EMS, special operations, and command areas of the fire/rescue service. Chris represents the International Association of Fire Chief’s on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical Committee on UAS for Public Safety. He is the fire service representative to the Virginia Governors’ Secure Commonwealth Sub-panel for UAS and is a vice chairman of the National Council on Public Safety UAS. He is the co-creator of the York County/Virginia Department of Emergency Management Hazmat/WMD/CBRNE Training Facility and is an adjunct instructor with VDEM specializing in hazardous materials response programs. Chris is also the senior director for the Peninsula Critical Incident Response Group which is a group of local, state and federal fire/EMS and law enforcement agencies that train and coordinate response readiness for large active threat incidents on the peninsula area of Southeast Virginia.
