Heather Borek
Dr. Heather Borek currently works in the field of Medical Toxicology at the University of Virginia. She did her undergraduate studies at UVA majoring in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry. She earned her doctor of medicine from the University of Connecticut and returned to UVA for her residency where she completed an Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology Fellowship. After graduation, she worked in Philadelphia for three years before returning back to UVA in 2015. She is currently an assistant professor of emergency medicine and the associate medical director of the Blue Ridge Poison Center. Her clinical and research interests include bedside care of the critically ill poisoned patient, envenomations, wilderness medicine and medical education.
